A Day Out to Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door
If you’re looking to explore some of Dorset’s most iconic natural wonders, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are absolute must-sees. These spectacular landmarks are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast – and they’re just a short journey from our doorstep.
Lulworth Cove is world-renowned for its perfectly rounded bay, shaped over thousands of years by the power of the sea. It’s a brilliant spot for paddling, taking photos, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature. Keep your eyes peeled for fossils and seabirds, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a dolphin out at sea!
A short, scenic walk along the cliff path will take you to Durdle Door – a breathtaking limestone arch carved naturally by the waves. The view from the top of the hill is something truly special: clear aquamarine waters, rugged cliffs, and the iconic arch stretching into the sea.
Getting There from Weymouth:
- By Car: Around 29 minutes’ drive.
- By Bus: Hop on the X54 – it takes roughly 55 minutes and offers some beautiful countryside views along the way.
- On Foot: Feeling adventurous? The coastal walk is about 3 hours and 30 minutes and is absolutely stunning – perfect for ramblers and those who love dramatic scenery. Just remember good walking shoes and water!
Whether you’re a lover of geology, wildlife, photography or just fancy a picnic with a view, this area is pure magic. We’re always happy to give tips, recommend a good café along the way, or pack you up with a little something for the road.
