Discovering the Charm of Our Guesthouse Surroundings:

A Scenic Walk along the Harbour and Coastal Trail

A Delightful 35-Minute Circular Walk

We’re so delighted to welcome you to our home. Once you’ve settled in, many of our guests love to stretch their legs and get a feel for Weymouth — and this is one of our absolute favourite walks to do just that.

This easy circular stroll takes you through the heart of the harbour, past historic landmarks, up to breath-taking coastal viewpoints, and back along the sea with plenty of opportunities to pause, sit, swim, sip coffee, or simply watch the world go by.

Allow around 35 minutes, plus any stops along the way (and trust us — you’ll want to stop!).

Route Highlights:

1. Harbour Exploration:

Begin by strolling along Weymouth Harbour, soaking up its ever-changing character. Early mornings are especially magical — calm water, soft light, and a real sense that the harbour belongs just to you.

Pause to watch the Weymouth Town Bridge, famous for its regular lifts. In summer, the bridge opens every two hours on the even — a wonderful little spectacle if you time it right.

2. Trinity Road to Hope Square:

Follow Trinity Road along the working side of the harbour. You’ll pass Bennett’s, often crowned the best fish & chips in town (and rightly so), and the cosy King’s Arms, full of character.

You’ll soon arrive at Hope Square — a charming little pocket of Weymouth. If there’s music drifting across the square, you’re in luck. We love the relaxed, lively atmosphere here, especially when live music spills out into the evening air. The Red Lion is perfect for a quick refreshment if the mood takes you.

3. Brewers Quay and Hill Lane:

You won’t miss Brewers Quay, built in 1903 and slowly being restored to its former glory — we enjoy keeping an eye on how it’s evolving.

Head up Hill Lane and cross towards The Look Out. Pause here. Breathe. The views stretch across to Portland, with the Jurassic Coast sweeping away to the left. For us, this is the spot — our favourite view and our go-to place for a refreshing sea swim.

4. Tranquil Coastal Walk to Nothe Fort:

Continue along the peaceful coastal path, surrounded by gardens, cedar trees, and plenty of benches inviting you to sit awhile.
This spot holds a special place in our hearts — we were sitting right here when we found out our offer on The Wadham had been accepted. A very happy moment for us 💛

Soon you’ll reach Nothe Fort, a beautifully preserved Victorian fort. If you enjoy history, it’s well worth a proper visit another day — for now, feel free to peek through the entrance and imagine its past.

5. Loop Back and Stone Pier Cafe:

Loop back along the coast with sweeping views across Weymouth’s vast sandy bay towards Osmington. Look carefully — can you spot Osmington White Horse of King George riding proudly on the hillside?

Stop at Stone Pier Cafe for a coffee or simply sit with the sea breeze on your face, watching boats glide in and out of the harbour. It’s one of those places where time slows beautifully.

6. Return Journey:

Resume your walk back towards us. During the day, you may spot a couple of local retired fishermen running a small ferry service across the harbour — a lovely way to rest the legs and enjoy the water.
Or continue on foot, passing the lifeboat station and taking a slightly different route back for a fresh perspective before returning “home”.
